Eskiltorps ängar och Eskiltorps holmar

Eskilstorps ängar is a 50 hectare nature reserve with well maintained pastureland, coastal meadows, shallow waters and a group of small, flat islets about 1.5 km offshore. Both in the north and south there are a few small areas of reeds.

A high lime content in the soil and subsoil water supports a special type of flora on the meadows. The ditches and pools along the track are one of the few remaining sites in Sweden for Green Toad. The toads can be heard and seen displaying on warm nights in May and June.

Eskilstorps holmar consists of two larger and three small islets in the outer part of Foteviken. It's a bird protection area, with colonies of Barnackle Goose (newcomer), Common Eider, Herring Gull and terns. Until 2006 the predominant species was Great Cormorant with up to 1,000 breeding pairs. Suddenly the colony was abandoned and in 2008 there was not a single pair of Great Cormorant.
